So it's been a while since I posted last, but we couldn't miss the big birthday! :) Alec got me a Silhouette for Christmas (big Cyber Monday sale) so I had lots of fun with the invites and decorations.. It was train themed...{all party gear created using this FAB kit.. }
Fun banner my mom helped put together..
This was a Pin the Hat on the Conductor game.. there were a bunch of matching hats for the kids to use.. didn't really go over so well, so we did a bunch of rounds of Musical Chairs instead.. :)
Then we made our very own trains out of egg cartons and pipe cleaners..
And had a train cake.. not the prettiest thing that's ever been made, but hey - he's 3 - he doesn't care.. ;)
Oh yes, and of course there were presents to be opened.. Thanks so much to everyone for the gifts.. thank you cards are on the way.. soon.. .
"The Crow Game" that we learned from some cousins.. He still doesn't really get the rules, but you've got to teach them to appreciate fine games when they're young, don't you know.. ;)
He got a train set for Christmas, and there was a little boy on the box with a hat.. ever since, he's been very concerned that he, too, didn't have the appropriate headgear for train building.. problem solved..
In the foreground, generation 2 of the cool shirts.. Last year, we got him these shirts from Old Navy - drums, guitar, headphones and a cassette tape - and they've been his favorite ever since.. despite the fact that they're 2-3 sizes too small.. Well wouldn't you know, there's a new set available, and when we saw them, we just HAD to have them.. So now we can put away the smaller ones and hopefully he won't freak out too much that his orange drum shirt is now a blue drum shirt..
And in the background.. the crazy blue pillow which he has appropriately named Red.. My mom made me one similar when I was little, and I loved it.. I got the supplies for this one back when I got everything for the bug's quilt back in Sept of '09, but never got around to it until 2 nights before the big day.. Ah well, at least it's done now.. :)
A helicopter to add to the ever-growing collection of Rescue vehicles by Tonka, courtesy of Grandma and Grandpa..
...and that's a birthday in a nutshell.. HUGE thank yous to my parents for coming up for the weekend to play babysitter and party planner while Alec and I were drowning in work [more on that later].. We definitely couldn't have done it without you.. :) I promise to come back and blog again real soon.. Catching up from the move, and updating on current goings on in the LaBau household..
